Winter in the Mountains

Once winter gets rolling around here, there is no longer road access to the cabin.  I park my car approximately 5 miles off of the main road, and switch to snowmobile for the remaining 7 miles of the trip.  I currently ride a Polaris 800 RMK

My 'yard' gets quite deep with snow.  In the picture below, the two small lumps in front of my shed are actually full sized propane tanks that provide my hot water heating, my propane fridge, my stove/oven, and a small heater (which I only turn on when I leave).  This year is actually slightly below normal, so I can't wait to see a snowy year!

I keep a well packed snowmobile trail in and out of my driveway.  This sometimes requires going out during a storm to just keep the driveway and the rest of the road slightly packed down.  If large drifts form, it can be very difficult to break trail.  There was one period of time where no one drove by the cabin for 1.5 months straight!

Here is a view of the barn in the winter.  You can contrast it with the summer time pictures on the front page.  The webcam is located next to the door of the barn.
