Boomerang Cave has a great 150 foot entrance drop that is a
beautiful free rappel most of the way down. At the bottom of the rappel, you must
perform a short up climb out of the bottom of the pit. Of course, once one person has
done the climb (it always seems to be me for some reason), you can tie off the rope to
make the climb a bit easier for the rest. The cave continues on down another pit to
a large room. This is where the register is located. The cave actually
continues on from there, but requires you to go through a tight squeeze with vertical gear
on. This stops most people from continuing.
The climb out of the entrance pit is nearly as much fun as the
rappel in. It is a pleasant free climb where you can see the entrance all of the way
up. The only bad thing is there is the large amount of bugs (including a bees nest)
that like to hang out near the top of the entrance.
